Insulation and heating in old houses 1/12-18
Wrong ways of saving energy in old houses lead to costly damage and unattractive houses. Learn how to combine sensible heating economy with conservation, aesthetics and a healthy house.
On this course we go through house designs, such as timber houses, plank frames and batten frames, and make suggestions for improving energy efficiency in four "typical houses" from 1850 to 1970. We take up different insulation materials and their characteristics, discuss extra insulation of joists, windows, attics and sloping roofs. We also look at heating technology and chimneys.
The course is theoretical in the form of lectures, but there is plenty of time to put your own questions.
You will have the answers to the most frequently asked questions during the course. You will know how to avoid the most common mistakes when renovating, which means that the renovation will be better and cheaper.
