Carpentry for the terrified 23-25/11-18

This is a course for those who think cabinet making sounds fun but have no experience.

During this course we go through how to work wood to make fine designs, including different joints such as dovetailing, biscuits, pegs and peg holes in order to make shelves, stools or similar. Try to come up with an idea of what you would like to make during the course.

We use both hand tools and electrical tools. You will learn the correct use of nails, screws and fastenings. We also look at what tools are suitable to use, their maintenance, and to some extent how to sharpen them. You will also learn about different types of wood, their qualities and how each wood type is used. Finally, to practise what you have learned in terms of techniques and tools, you will make a useful and beautiful object with your own hands.

The course is held in Swedish.

Course leader

The course leader is Manne Swedberg: a cabinet maker, farm carpenter and built heritage consultant who started his trade by going on a carpentry course at Nääs.
